Why Oral hygiene is important?
Our mouth is the gateway to our body, and how we take care of our body reflects on our oral hygiene. The health of the teeth and gums is important to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Poor oral hygiene can often affect organs of the body, such as deteriorating organ health and functioning.
Recent studies show that there are significant connections between oral health and the overall well-being of the body. While the exact cause and effect of oral health are still under research, it is true that proper oral hygiene promotes well-being and positively impacts our body.
Once we start neglecting our oral health, it’s a matter of time before we will face the serious consequence of chronic inflammation, which will be a common problem in terms of gum disease and other systematic problems associated with that particular disease.
Hence we will start with a process where we can understand the norms of oral hygiene and how to maintain it.
1. Brush and Floss
Good oral health is the foundation: taking care of the teeth, tongue and gum with proper brushing and flossing. It is recommended to brush twice a day, regularly, to keep your mouth and gums healthy. It will prevent your mouth from getting affected by tooth disease and have potential positive ripple effects, which will benefit your body.
2. Regular dental checkups
Scheduled dental visits are essential not only to ensure that you have the proper aesthetics to manage your smile and face but also to identify the cause if there is any potential threat which might have some long-term impact.
It is best if you already schedule a monthly visit with your dentist. It will also be best for the doctor to understand your tooth pattern and suggest different medicines or oral paste to mitigate any chance of decay or gum contamination.
If we don’t take proper care, it might cause severe toothache, leading to consequences where you must pluck that tooth up. The trauma of tooth extraction can linger as anxiety in the body, which will lead to potential ill effects and hamper the mental and overall health of the body.
3. Balanced Diet
It’s not only the external care that will ensure oral hygiene but also the minerals that will come from the food, which is essential to maintain oral hygiene. A diet rich in calcium and proteins is important for the tooth’s strength and the mouth’s overall well-being.
Vegetables, fruits, lean proteins and water are important for the proper condition of the teeth and gums. It is suggested that one avoid using tobacco as it harms long-term oral hygiene.
